No parent should have an “if I get deported” conversation with their child.
True that. Be a responsible parent. Don’t go to countries illegally.
Why is it that when so many of the people who reblogged this see the word “deported” they think it is somehow not the parent’s fault?
If the original statement read “if I get arrested” would people still assume that the parent was just a hapless victim of the system?
Being deported is one of the very very very predictable risks of sneaking into or staying in a country without permission.
It’s like robbing a bank then telling your child “if i get arrested…”
Being somewhere illegally judged by a population that obtained it upon false pretenses. 🤔🤔🤦🏾♀️ Shouldn’t they ask the Native Americans who can and can’t stay?
The native americans are not a collective. They were many different tribes that were often at war with one another. No one tribe had claim to that land. It was not officially a country. There were no official borders or laws dictating who could and couldnt stay.
Now if you really want to get into it, most land was taken by force before Europeans came there, so really Europeans used the same methods they used to secure said land. They just did a better job of it.
I really dont like the assumption that native Americans were just one collective people and society who were all super peaceful in their established country and the big bad Europeans abruptly ruined their harmony. It is historically dishonest.
It’s also racist, ironically.
