I haven’t seen posts about this much, but as a devout Catholic who fully believes in the Church as the Body of Christ on earth, I am disgusted and appalled. Clergy are in a unique position of power and trust, and when that is abused to satisfy depraved and perverted appetites, severely wounding the abused individuals and all who love them. He was primarily abusing men who were training to be priests themselves.

It is clear that he was abusing during the time the other sexual abuse scandals were occurring in the previous decades, but was not caught at that time.

Not only has he physically, sexually, and spiritually abused people, but this man and all who aided him in covering up his crimes have and will damage the world’s perception of Christ, His Church, and its mission of love and healing.

Kyrie Eleison. St. Maria Goretti, patroness of the abused, pray for the victims.

…you know, most of the stuff I remember about saints having visions of hell showed all kinds of priests suffering and burning eternally.  As a kid, I never understood how come so many priests might end up in hell.  I think I’ve figured it out, though…
