I was listening to a song today about the battle of Jericho and it occurred to me that despite how much our world rejects God and embraces and celebrates sin, in the end, none of it will matter.
Jesus Christ reigns. He has conquered sin and death.
All of the ‘stones’ – all of the ideas and practices that our societies are claiming to be our modern foundation – the ‘new and improved way of doing things’, will fall just like the wall in the Battle of Jericho and will all amount to a pile of rubble on Judgment Day.
The stones of promiscuity and sexual perversion will come to nothing.
The stones of atheism, communism, liberalism, modernism – nada.
The stones of new age ideologies, witchcraft and the occult will have no power.
The stones of abortion and euthanasia will no longer claim any victims.
The stones of political corruption, and man-made laws that fail to reflect truth as God has revealed to us, will be seen clearly and will deceive no longer.
The stones of pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath and sloth will no longer chain us down for we will be set free in Christ.
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I also saw the holy city, a new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with the human race. He will dwell with them and they will be his people and God himself will always be with them as their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, wailing or pain, for the old order has passed away.”
The one who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.”
