Hey Guys it’s Another Hurricane Florence Post

so i’m from florida and i’m seeing a lot of posts about hurricane florence going around so i thought i’d say a couple of things on the topic in hopes of helping out any followers from North Carolina or Virginia

• PLEASE if you can, EVACUATE! I know is not possible for everyone but if you are in an evacuation zone, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE evacuate!!!
• Given that you can not evacuate for some reason (no car, hotels too expensive) LOOK UP TO FIND OUT IF YOU HAVE A ZONE TO REPORT TO!!! there should be safety facilities that you can report to and stay at for the length of the hurricane until they report that you remain home
• IF you really want to stay home or can’t leave for whatever reason, PUT UP SHUTTERS!!! This seems obvious but living in florida people seem to underestimate how bad a storm is gonna be. IF YOUR GLASS WINDOWS ARE NOT HURRICANE PROOF, PUT UP SHUTTERS!!!!!
• If you have ANY furniture outside (patio chairs, etc.) BRING IT INSIDE or it could end up flying into your house or your neighbors
• PLEASE!!! IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE AROUND OTHER PEOPLE!!! WEAR DEODERANT! You are gonna be trapped real closely to one another with possibly no a/c, electricity, or CLEAN running water. You don’t know when your next shower is gonna be. so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE wear deoderant
• IF YOU ARE A JUNIOR IN HIGH SCHOOL!!! this is your chance to study for the PSAT!!! If you do well enough you can get SCHOLARSHIPS!!!! (trust me i did this during Irma) IF YOURE NOT A JUNIOR BUT ARE IN HIGH SCHOOL: STUDY!!!! You can get so much done!!!
• PLAN THINGS TO DO WHEN POWER GOES OUT otherwise you’ll be really bored
• Plan no-heat meals because you may not be able to use your kitchen appliances (no power)
• IF ONLY PART OF YOUR HOUSE FLOODS, LEAVE THAT AREA!!! You don’t know what the water touched and what contaminants it’s carried
• If the storm reaches a particularly scary point where you’re not too sure of the structural integrity of your house, head to an inside room with no windows. you will be safer here (think tornado) cover your head! and hope that everything turns out alright
• Since the area hasn’t gotten this kind of a storm in a while, MANY TREES WILL COME DOWN! THIS is probably what is causing your power outages. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE TREES this is a healthy process for them!!!
• STAY SAFE! DONT GO OUT FOR WALKS IN THE MIDDLE OF A HURRICANE!!!!!! That sounds like i shouldn’t have to say it but i’m from florida and everyone here is insane so I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE!!! IT IS NOT FUN TO BE TRAPPED UNDER A TREE!!! JUST BECAUSE ITS STOPPED RAINING FOR A SECOND DOES NOT MEAN ITS TIME TO GO OUTSIDE!!
• so please, to everyone getting ready for Florence, don’t take this storm lightly. Every hurricane is a big deal.
