“I’ve been sick over this Kavanaugh stuff. At first, I wasn’t sure why I was so affected by it. But I think it’s because, in him, I see every good man I know—my dad, brothers, husband, in-laws—and I don’t want to accept a world in which men (or any person) are guilty until proven innocent. Where “she said” suffices as a credible accusation. Where a man’s life and livelihood can be stripped from him by uncorroborated, unsubstantiated, unproven, and, in the case with Kavanaugh and Ford, unlikely claims. Do you? Are you okay with a system that accepts the validity of accusations based on the accuser’s gender? Are you okay with the lives of your sons, husbands, brothers, dads and friends being ruined by baseless accusations of rape and assault? I refuse to accept that as the new reality.

I want to believe Dr. Ford—even as someone who wants to see Kavanaugh confirmed. I want to believe her, because I don’t want to believe

a) someone would be so insane & depraved to bring forth false allegations
b) Democrats are evil enough to peddle false allegations that ruin someone’s life for the sake of gaining power
c) false allegations are sufficient to irreparably damage someone’s reputation.

But, without any corroboration that the events occurred, with every alleged witness saying they either don’t remember, that it didn’t happen or that it doesn’t seem like something that would have happened, with her selective memory that only seems to retain the facts that implicate Kavanaugh and nothing else, with the clear agenda of her attorneys as evidenced by the “she doesn’t fly” and “Republicans won’t come to California” lies that were unearthed during the hearing, and with the dozens and dozens of character witnesses for Kavanaugh– men and women on both sides of the aisle–who say he would never do anything like this, with the newly released and completely unbelievable and totally (again) uncorroborated allegations of gang rape that make this whole thing look like a sick sham, I can’t. The facts aren’t there. And, thank God, our country was set up with an “innocent until proven guilty” system.

No, I won’t “believe all women.” That’s discriminatory, unjust and illogical. That line of thinking only makes sense to someone drunk on identity politics. It’s idiotic.

The only thing that should matter is facts. And, without a doubt, the facts are with Kavanaugh. Period.

Only person with corroboration of their story: Kavanaugh. Only person who’s kept his story straight: Kavanaugh. Only person with dozens of character witnesses: Kavanaugh. Only one who’s passed 6 FBI checks: Kavanaugh. Only one with 30yr documented integrity: Kavanaugh. The only one to fully & readily comply with all the Senate’s demands: Kavanaugh.

Ford came with feelings. Kavanaugh came with facts. On the topic of justice, I’m far more concerned with the latter.

I don’t doubt Ford has been abused in her life. In fact, she comes across as someone who has been serially abused over many years. But there is no evidence to support the claim that the perpetrator of this abuse was Kavanaugh. None. She may not be intentionally lying, but I believe she is mistaken.

I have received several messages from women—some victims, some not—who are heartbroken over the Kavanaugh process. And not primarily for her, but for him. Because, like me, in him they see their dad, brothers, husband, sons and friends. They see a man of sterling rapport ruined by as yet baseless accusations. They don’t want to live in a country in which boys and men are guilty until proven innocent.

And to them I say: good. Remember that in November.”
