That is an amazing take.  I’ve never seen something so profoundly statist and pathetic.  Paying taxes is a privilege now.

What an absolutely scorching take holy shit

So in Canada you don’t have to pay back student loans until you make over a certain amount of money a year. Now the entire time it still gets more and more in interest, so the longer it takes you to earn the set amount by the federal government, the more money you have to pay the federal government.
I work part time at a gas station.
I do not make enough to pay taxes every year but I pay into CPP (Canada’s Pension Plan) and EI. (Employment Insurance a program I do not work enough hours for to quality to recieve the benfits of. When I am let go of a job, like when Target Canada changed me from permament to seasonal when they were closing down, I was employeed, told by my boss not to look for work because the second he could hire me back he would. I was out of work for 6 months because of this and I didn’t quality of EI because I was not working enough a week in terms of hours.)
No matter how much you make in Canada you have to pay CPP and EI out of your cheques to pay for the people who are currently on those benefits and not working.

Isn’t government grand?
