salt-and-corn:

higher-order:

  • Only 2% of US Catholics go to confession once a month or more.
  • 12% go several times a year.
  • 12% go once a year.
  • 30% go less than once a year.
  • 45% never go to confession.

So there’s either millions of American Catholic saints who aren’t committing mortal sins, or there’s millions of American Catholics living outside a state of grace as the default (and presumably receiving communion unworthily).

I imagine the situation is similar in Europe too. This is awful. The problem is two-fold: 1) The decimation of confession hours since Vatican II, and 2) Poor catechises on the essential nature of confession in the spiritual life.

Even if you don’t commit mortal sin, you must go to Confession at least once a year to be considered a practicing Catholic! Get yourselves to Confession kiddos!!
