“I went to Adoration for the first time yesterday, and it was wonderful to have that quiet time with Jesus at the church. However, something so beautiful and comforting happened to me following Adoration. I was having a pretty rough day spiritually on Friday, both feeling a bit of distance from God and struggling if knowing if converting to Catholicism is actually right and what I want to do. Truthfully, I didn’t want to go to Adoration because I just wasn’t “feeling it” that day, but some wise words from my RCIA classmate, Jimmy, popped into my head, which are “Regardless of how I feel, I’m worshipping God.”
And so I went, had some great quiet time with the Lord, prayed the rosary, and left. I was looking through my church’s free reading material shelf and picked up a pamphlet on the Passion, and right under that was the above pictured Miraculous Medal taped to a ripped piece of paper. I’ve never been more speechless in my life, and here’s why:
The first promise of the rosary is that those who recite it faithfully shall receive signal graces, which are essentially little signs that one is headed in the right direction, and I’ve noticed quite a few throughout the week, but this one stopped me right in my tracks. Not just that, but I’ve been wanting to buy a Miraculous Medal for awhile, but I wanted it to be special- I didn’t want to buy one because that’s “just what Catholics do”, so I’ve been putting it off. So, this is definitely a sign from Our Lady to trust her. And, what comforted me most was knowing that she is, in fact, watching over me and all of us, and I interpreted this blessing as a small “thank you” for faithfully praying the rosary, but most importantly, for spending time with her beloved Son despite feeling spiritually desolate that day.
What I’m taking away from this is to trust in Christ, trust in Our Lady, and to trust in the power of praying the rosary, regardless of how I happen to be feeling.
