I’m gonna scream.

The ignorance about guns is just too much and it’s really affecting the gun arguments. I don’t even blame all the individuals espousing it so much as the media that’s been feeding them bullshit and confusing terminology to make things sound scarier.

• Rapidfire does not mean a gun fires more than one bullet at once
• Rapidfire is pretty much just another way of saying semiautomatic
• Most handguns are completely capable of firing rapidly
• Handguns are much more commonly used in violent gun crime
• “Full semiauto“ is a meaningless term. The gun is either fully automatic or it’s not.
• Most modern guns are semiautomatic
• It just means you don’t have to manually re-load the bullet in the chamber each time you fire
• Many “hunting rifles“ use rounds that are much, much bigger than the ones found in “assault rifles”.

Please please please before you make a declarative statement about guns, make sure you get your facts straight. It’s fine to ask for clarification if you need it, this is not an attack on anybody, but understand there is a lot of misinformation out there when it comes to guns.

There were literally Machine gun prototypes floating around in the mid-1700s. This idea that the founding fathers could never conceive of weapons more advanced than muskets is asinine and needs to die.
