okay these are all the doctors in chronological order in the current canon
everything was normal until John Hurt, who was a secret incarnation of The Doctor introduced retroactively in 2013
this incarnation didn’t call himself The Doctor during his life, because he didn’t feel like he lived up to the title
so despite Christopher Eccleston being the 10th incarnation of the Doctor, he was still referred to as The 9th Doctor
THEN
during one of David Tennant’s episodes, he gets shot by a dalek for the first time ever and is forced to regenerate, but decides not to change his face by siphoning the regeneration energy into his own disembodied hand which is a fucking long story
the short of it is that David Tennant regenerated into himself
so
David Tennant, known as the 10th Doctor, was actually the 11th and 12th incarnations of The Doctor, but was still known as the 10th Doctor for his whole tenure
so now we’re on Jodie Whittaker right
who
is known as the 13th doctor, because John Hurt wasn’t called The Doctor and David Tennant was still called the 10th Doctor even when he was the 11th and 12th
but technically she is the 15th incarnation of The Doctor and could just as easily be called the 15th Doctor
PUT SIMPLY,,,,,,,,,,,,
Jodie Whittaker plays the 15th incarnation of The Doctor, who has the 14th unique face of The Doctor, but is called the 13th Doctor because John Hurt and the David Tennant Two: The Re-Tennanting don’t count in the number order
i know it’s silly
but you’re both right
Reblogging in support of the perfectly Doctor Who answer of “you’re both right”, as well as the verb “re-tennanting”, which I look forward to seeing in the Oxford English dictionary very soon.
Oh
RE-TENNANTING
“The short of it is that David Tennant regenerated into himself”
I love that this implies that David Tennant himself is a time lord
I will be frankly honest and say that sometimes when I encounter hostile atheists on this site, I feel like cussing someone out. I know, I know. Not very Christian of me. But then I remember my gay freshman roommate who wanted to know about why I believe in what I believe it and genuinely wanted to start reading the Bible. I remember one of my classmates who I got close to and his questions about how can I reconcile science with my faith and how he asked it in a non condescending fashion. He is the same friend who greatly appreciated that I said I would pray for him when he decided to take a leave of absence from school. I think of my bisexual roommate junior year who consistently told me to have a great time at church on Sundays and asked about how it was every time I came back. Not everyone who doesn’t believe in God is the hostile teacher we see in God’s Not Dead. A lot of people don’t like to give you a hard time for believing in God and find it pretty cool that you have something that you believe in. That is why I try not to harden my heart and get all my pride puffed up when I encounter someone who is hostile towards God. It is not my place to get personally angry as if they are insulting me. All the people I mentioned are creations of God and He is working in all their hearts, whether they know or not. My job is simply to love them, tell them the Truth, and if they don’t want to hear it, to pray for them and keep going my way.
Yup. Imagine how privileged you have to be to openly say your president is the worst person on earth with no fear of reprisal, and yet unironically think he’s worse than all the dictators that would hang you up by the toes for looking at them wrong.
