I can see a Renaissance flair in the wedding attire, but I would definitely discourage couples from wearing anything too “costume-y” for a Mass.
Example: you could go with something like this with a matching veil and Renassaince-esque hairdo:
but not this:
FWIW: I had my wedding theme be “Traditional with Generic Celtic undertones”. For my outfit, I had a very traditional/basic wedding dress. But for the Celtic “flaire”, I had my hair put in many little braids (which were tied up in a bun), had flowers clipped in, and I wore a Celtic/Renaissance inspired headpiece:
And then we had our reception at an Irish pub in the city as part of that theme (as pictured).
Period costumes should stay in their respective situational events; the Mass is not one of them. BUT, that doesn’t mean you can’t use the theme for inspiration in your clothing, or that you can’t switch out to Renaissance attire and fun for the Reception. Perhaps that could be a good middle ground? I’m sure if you do more than the two minutes of googling I did for ideas, you’ll find some cool stuff out there to try out.
Call me naive for not expecting him to get this backlash. And while I agree that they have the right to ‘fight’ his ideas, I don’t see anything wrong with what he’s expressed. Antifa needs to get a life.
It IS possible to disagree with someone and remain civil at the same time.
People act like this because they think anyone slightly to the right is supportive and implicit in the so-called murder patrol of anyone not white, cis, straight, and/or male. They act radical because they have been brainwashed into believing radical lies.
people need to stop equating “college educated” with “intelligent”, there have been far too many incidents reported that expose academia as a cesspool for intellectual and political bigotry for y’all to be like “lol only college educated smarties like ME vote blue!!!”
Lord, have mercy on us.
Christ, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us. Christ hear us.
God the Father, Grounding of all Reality,
have mercy on us.
God the Son, Expression of Truth,
have mercy on us.
God, the Spirit of Right Guidance,
have mercy on us.
Holy Trinity, One God of Truth and Justice,
have mercy on us.
On Simon Magus, the Father of All Heresies, Lord have mercy. On Marcion and all who denounce Jewish
prophecy, Lord have mercy. On Valentinius and all who deny Christ’s natural humanity, Lord have mercy. On Arius and all who reject Christ’s eternality, Lord have mercy. On Helvidius and all who doubt Mary’s perpetual virginity, Lord have mercy. On Pelagius and all who downplay grace’s necessity, Lord have mercy. On Luther and all who attack the Church’s
sanctity, Lord have mercy. On Calvin and all who exaggerate man’s
depravity, Lord have mercy. On Jefferson and all who ignore supernatural
reality, Lord have mercy. On Feeney and all who limit God’s mercy, Lord have mercy. On me, if I hold fast to some falsity, Lord have
mercy.
Mother Mary, Destroyer of All Heresies, pray
for us. Saint Dominic, Apostle of the Rosary, pray for
us. Saint Athanasius, Champion of Orthodoxy, pray
for us. Saint Augustine, proponent of God’s Utmost
Majesty, pray for us. Saint Thérèse, reminder of God’s loving leniency,
pray for us. Saint Francis, symbol of what the Church should
be, pray for us. Lord Jesus Christ, Source of All Authority, show
us Your Face.
Let us Pray: We adore You, Lord, for You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. We hope and
pray that, through Your Holy Spirit, we may come to know You ever more fully
and intimately. Help us learn to love You for who You are, and not who we think
You are. Correct our perceptions, clarify our confusion, and delight us with
Your Revelation. You are greater and more profound than we are capable of
imagining; conform us to Yourself, so that each lesson we learn fills us with a
profound joy and excitement. May we seek to receive an ever more detailed
portrait of You, until we see Your glory in light of the Beatific Vision. Amen.
