Can we as a society stop acting like adulthood is the worst thing that can happen to a person? That’s part of the crap that made me suicidal. I was an absolutely miserable teenager and everyone around me saying that adulthood would be even worse gave me nothing to look forward to.
Adulthood is what you make it. You gain experience and learn how to deal with your mental illness, you could get married to the person of your dreams, you could get a car and all the freedom that comes with it, you could save up money for that trip you always wanted to take, the world is your oyster and of course it isn’t easy but it is worth it.
We glorify youth to a very destructive point. Why can’t we romanticize getting older and all the things you have to look forward to in the future instead of making people so anxious about it they want to die rather than growing old?
God, this. I’m only just starting to come into adulthood and it’s frankly the best thing that ever happened to me.
I had a pretty good childhood, but nothing beats having the freedom to make decisions about my own life on a day to day basis, while also gaining a more mature viewpoint that lets me not freak out over it.
As a kid I was always told being an adult sucked, that everything just gets worse as you get older, and I have no clue why anybody without their own issues would say that.
I have only improved as a person as I grew older, and I hope that trend continues for decades to come.
being an adult means more responsibility but I love the freedom I have
