Your Fave Is Catholic: Martin Sheen (real name: Ramón Gerard Antonio Estévez)
Known for: Beloved Golden Globe winning actor in both film & television. He has had a long career in the field of acting, & has a very recognizable voice that has been used in countless narrations. Film projects he has done include The Subject Was Roses, Catch-22, Rage, Badlands, Apocalypse Now, The Final Countdown, Gandhi, The Dead Zone, The Believers, Wall Street, Cadence (which he also directed), JFK, Running Wild, Hot Shots! Part Deux, Gettysburg, The American President, The War at Home, Spawn, O, Catch Me If You Can, The Departed, The Way, The Amazing Spider-Man, Selma, & many many more. He has also appeared on several television shows throughout the years, with main or major roles on the shows The West Wing, Anger Management, & Grace & Frankie. He has also narrated several documentaries, the list being too long to feature here. Additionally, he is also the father of Emilio Estevez, Ramon Luis Estevez, Renee Estevez, & Charlie Sheen.
Evidence of Faith: Martin is very open & loving about his Catholic faith, & many sources will confirm this. When he was on Inside the Actors Studio in 2003, he explained that growing up, he attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dayton, & that he attended Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School (the first part is also confirmed in this My Dayton Daily News article). Also in his Inside the Actors Studio interview, Martin explained that it was through fellow Catholic & activist Dorothy Day & the Catholic Worker Movement that Martin dedicated himself to social justice. According to a Los Angeles Times article, Martin still continues supporting the Catholic Workers Movement. Also according to a Telegraph article, Martin is certainly a devout Catholic, & it became that way after a series of meaningful conversations with director Terrence Malick, director of Badlands. In his own words, “The whole journey is about showing our brokenness….It’s about opening up and being human. And that’s what spirituality really is. It’s humanity.” He also stated in an interview with The Catholic Report that he’s pro-life, & he is also a recipient of the Laetare Medal from the University of Notre Dame, which is one of the highest honors an American Catholic can have (this information can be seen here). Additionally, he continues to this day supporting many Catholic causes, & has been granted many high honors for his contributions. One can also see Martin’s strong Catholic faith in the film The Way, which details a spiritual pilgrimage & was directed by Emilio Estevez.

Known for: Canadian actress best known for her various television roles & notable film roles. Television projects she’s known for include Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Glory Days, Everwood, Brothers & Sisters, Revenge, & The Resident. Film projects she’s known for include Lost & Delirious, The Ring Two, Carriers, Norman, The Girl in the Book, & as Sharon Carter/Agent 13 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (specifically the films Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Captain America: Civil War). She is also a ballet dancer.
Evidence of Faith: Emily is not one to talk much about her religious beliefs, doing her best to keep her personal life private. However, according to an article from an Emily VanCamp website that discusses her role in Beyond the Blackboard & her meeting Stacey Bess, it mentions that Emily is Catholic, & refers to her as “the Catholic actress”.
Your Fave Is Catholic: Gregory Peck
Known for: Academy Award winning actor & former president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences & American Film Institute. He started his acting career on stage, but quickly moved into film & since made a name for himself as one of the greatest actors in Hollywood. Most people remember him best for his portrayal of Atticus Finch in the film adaptation of To Kill A Mockingbird. Other major film products of his include The Keys of the Kingdom, Spellbound, The Yearling, Gentlemen’s Agreement, Twelve O’Clock High, The Gunfighter, Roman Holiday, Moby Dick & its mini-series remake, The Big Country, The Bravados, Cape Fear & its remake, How the West was Won, The Omen, & The Boys from Brazil. He was also award the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his various humanitarian efforts back in 1969.
Evidence of Faith: Gregory was raised Catholic by his parents (his mother converting to Catholicism before marrying his father) & he attended St. John’s Military Academy as a child, which is a Catholic military school. The Adherents.com article on Gregory Peck goes into great detail about his faith during his lifetime, discussing his more liberal Catholicism, how his faith was shaken for a time when his son Jonathan committed suicide, how the structure & rituals of the church gave him strength, how at one point he considered becoming a priest as opposed to an actor, how he used the Bible as guidance, how meeting Pope John Paul II was a highlight in his life, & much much more. In short, there is quite enough proof that he was certainly Catholic!

Known for: Emmy Award winning television actress who has taken part in many beloved television shows including Living Dolls, Saved By The Bell, Phantom 2040, First Time Out, Fired Up, The King of Queens, The Talk, Family Tools, The Exes, & Kevin Can Wait. She is also a major anti-Scientology activist, having produced & narrated a documentary on the subject titled Leah Remini: Scientology & the Aftermath, & is the author of the book Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood & Scientology.
Evidence of Faith: In a podcast interview on the Joe Rogan Experience, Leah explains that initially, she was baptized as a Roman Catholic & raised in the faith during her early childhood. At age 9, her mother converted to Scientology, forced her to convert & follow the beliefs, & was a Scientologist for a good chunk of her life. However, she left the Church of Scientology in 2013, & has since been super super SUPER critical of that particular religious organization. In an interview with People Magazine, it states Leah has since embraced the Catholic Church as her true faith, find great comfort as a Catholic, & has even baptized her daughter Sofia as Catholic. In her own words, Catholicism is “…what religion is supposed to be: a beautiful thing!”

Known for: Actor & dancer, best known as the current actor playing Spider Man for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (in the movies Captain America: Civil War, Spider Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, & more to come!) Additionally, he originally got his start as a stage actor, playing Billy Elliot in Billy Elliot: the Musical. Other projects of his include The Impossible, In the Heart of the Sea, The Lost City of Z, Pilgrimage, & a few other roles as well. Additionally, he is also a talented dancer, hence his success in Billy Elliot: the Musical.
Evidence of Faith: According to a few sources, his education was mainly from Catholic schools: Donhead Preparatory School (an old bulletin regarding his casting in Billy Elliot: the Musical from the official website confirms this) & Wimbledon College, which is a Jesuit Roman Catholic comprehensive school. Additionally, his father, comedian Dominic Holland, is also Catholic, & thus it’s safe to say that his son follows the faith as well.

Known for: Academy Award winning actor best known for starring in many beloved western films. Major film credits of his include Stagecoach, Red River, The Searchers, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, True Grit, The Quiet Man, Rio Bravo, The Longest Day, & The Shootist. He also played Genghis Khan in one movie, but the less said about that the better! He was also known by his nickname “The Duke”.
Evidence of Faith: John actually was a Protestant for most of his life, through according to Adherents.com, he did marry a Catholic woman & he did raise his children to be Catholics. That same article & this article from OSV Newsweekly state that before his death in 1979, John converted to Catholicism & he had a Catholic funeral. His son Patrick confirmed this conversion.

Known for: English actor who has starred in many popular films & television roles. Film roles of his include Love Actually, Shaun of the Dead, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Hot Fuzz, Nativity!, What’s Your Number?, The Pirates! Band of Misfits, The World’s End, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther, & as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit Trilogy. Television roles of his include The Office (UK version), Sherlock, Fargo, & many more.
Evidence of Faith: In an article from The Independent, it states that Martin’s mother raised him as a Roman Catholic, & that his faith remains intact. In his own words, “I’m one of the few people I know who believes in God.” The same article also mentions he attended a Catholic school in Surrey growing up, specifically Salesian School. I’ve also been informed by @patient-positivity that he admitted his Catholic faith in a television interview for Sherlock, so there’s also that.

Known for: Irish actor, film producer, & activist. He is probably best known for playing James Bond from 1995 to 2002 in the films Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, & Die Another Day. Other film credits to his name include Mrs. Doubtfire, Love Affair, Mars Attacks!, Dante’s Peak, The Thomas Crown Affair, Laws of Attraction, The Matador, Mamma Mia! & its sequel, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: the Lightning Thief, Remember Me, The World’s End, & many more. He was also the star of the television series Remington Steele & is currently the star of the television series The Son. He is also an ambassador for UNICEF Ireland.
Evidence of Faith: Pierce is a deeply religious man! According to an old article & interview from Cigar Aficionado, Pierce explains that he was raised Catholic by his mother, after his father had left them before he was born. He discusses that it was a difficult time for his mother, as being Irish Catholic during the 1950s caused them to suffer somewhat. In another interview, Pierce said that as a child, he was an altar boy, & the experience never left him. To this day, Pierce is still strong with Catholic faith. In an article from Irish Central, Pierce discusses how his faith & constant prayer have helped him get through the death of his wife, helped him to be a father, actor, & man, & ultimately helped him to be optimistic. In his own words: “It always helps to have a bit of prayer in your back pocket. At the end of the day, you have to have something and for me that is God, Jesus, my Catholic upbringing, my faith.”
