my brother is teaching his cat how to high five by giving her a treat every time she successfully taps her hand to his hand, which is all well and good, but now she thinks that she is entitled to food every time she high fives someone. i can’t eat in the same room as her anymore because she’ll just bap my hand rapid fire and then go nyoom straight in for my pizza like no Kelly that’s illegal go finish ur own dinner

So, a while back, I was using clicker-training to teach my cat Taz tricks. She learned very quickly and it was a good experience all around, but we had to hide the clicker.
Taz had learned that the clicker meant she got treats. So she would find it, carry it up to people, step on it to make it click, and then SCREAM AT THEM to give her the treats she was clearly owed because the clicker had made a sound.
Here is a tiger just going about life until this human gives it the fright of its life. Still cute af. Dream job to be honest. 17/10 would be such an honor to pet

Seriously that tiger flopped over with more drama than you would find in a middle school play death scene I love it.

THEY ARE RIDICULOUS ANIMALS 😀
it’s not that cats (including tigers) believe that humans are shockingly incompetent cats, it’s that they’re willing to incorporate non-cats into their social groups
(yes, many species of cats, including domestic cats, are social animals, contra popular belief)
so when they bring you dead or half-dead prey? they’re making sure you don’t go hungry. feral cats have been observed caring for sick, injured, or aging colony members.
my brother’s cat was pregnant when he left for christmas break & this is what he came home to
of note: my brother was always indifferent to cats, but queens has a lot of strays and one took to huddling up on his windowsill at night. he started feeding her, then started letting her in when she was cold, and now she’s his baby and he’s got 7 kittens running around his apartment. iconic.
