What’s happened to people?

I was walking with my boyfriend in town, and he offered to carry my bag for me as it was getting heavy and my arm was getting tired. Not a big deal, it was just a Prada purse and I was walking right next to him so it was obviously mine.

What do we get? A bunch of people our age yelling out at him, calling him gay, a f*ggot, that men aren’t supposed to wear purses etc. He still carried it after me offering to take it back, and still carries my things often to this day.

He did an act of chivalry, and though it doesn’t sound like much I really appreciated it. I don’t understand people anymore, why should he be humiliated when carrying his girlfriend’s purse? When being a good boyfriend?
