Talking to young children is incredible. They cycle rapidly between being impressively insightful and exceptionally weird. A three and a half year old girl was just standing in front of me, staring into my face and earnestly grabbing at my knees, and saying “You don’t have to be afraid of things you don’t know about!”

Two minutes later, she was tapping me on the nose and happily shrieking “YOU DON’T HAVE ANY SKIN OR BONES!!!!”

today from one of my children: “they’re fighting for power but we are fighting for good. we will always win, because one day power will leave them, but good will always remain.”

he was talking about wiffle balls.

five minutes later, from the same child: “i’m going to smack my face into the rock”
me: “let’s try to not do that”
him: “yeahhhhhhhhhhhh it could hurt….. im going to do it” *immediately pitches his face forwards*

don’t worry, i caught him.
