Known for: Irish actor, film producer, & activist. He is probably best known for playing James Bond from 1995 to 2002 in the films Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, & Die Another Day. Other film credits to his name include Mrs. Doubtfire, Love Affair, Mars Attacks!, Dante’s Peak, The Thomas Crown Affair, Laws of Attraction, The Matador, Mamma Mia! & its sequel, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: the Lightning Thief, Remember Me, The World’s End, & many more. He was also the star of the television series Remington Steele & is currently the star of the television series The Son. He is also an ambassador for UNICEF Ireland.
Evidence of Faith: Pierce is a deeply religious man! According to an old article & interview from Cigar Aficionado, Pierce explains that he was raised Catholic by his mother, after his father had left them before he was born. He discusses that it was a difficult time for his mother, as being Irish Catholic during the 1950s caused them to suffer somewhat. In another interview, Pierce said that as a child, he was an altar boy, & the experience never left him. To this day, Pierce is still strong with Catholic faith. In an article from Irish Central, Pierce discusses how his faith & constant prayer have helped him get through the death of his wife, helped him to be a father, actor, & man, & ultimately helped him to be optimistic. In his own words: “It always helps to have a bit of prayer in your back pocket. At the end of the day, you have to have something and for me that is God, Jesus, my Catholic upbringing, my faith.”
