Vapid celebrities are arrogantly demanding that straws be banned, and that people suffer the empty gesture of a “Skip the Straw Day”. Even lamer than “Meatless Monday”.

ALMOST NONE of the Great Pacific Gyre or the plastic ingested by sea turtles comes from the US. If no American ever used a disposable straw again, it would make almost no difference at all.

“The 10 rivers that carry 93 percent of that trash are the Yangtze, Yellow, Hai, Pearl, Amur, Mekong, Indus and Ganges Delta in Asia, and the Niger and Nile in Africa. The Yangtze alone dumps up to an estimated 1.5 million metric tons of plastic waste into the Yellow Sea.”
