patron-saint-of-smart-asses:

A note for those who struggle with their prayer life because they feel pressure to pray “the right way”:

When praying the rosary this morning, I accidentally prayed the Glorious Mysteries out of order: instead of praying the Pentecost one before the Assumption of Mary one, I did it the other way. And you know what? For the better. During the one of the Assumption, my kids were both bugging me and I was constantly interrupted. After they left I realized my mistake, and shrugged it off to continue the rosary, and simply said the Pentecost mystery next. And when I did, I was alone and unbothered, in some of the deepest prayer I have had in a while. I came around to some answers and encouragement that I desperately needed. And that happened all because I prayed out of order due to bad memory!

God knows you are imperfect, and that you will pray imperfectly. Imperfection has not stopped Him before and it will not stop Him now. Keep on praying, because even the weakest Hail Mary or Our Father makes the devil tremble.
