People who unironically wear clothing and jewelry with the upside down cross honestly deserve to get laughed at.
It’s even worse because the upside down cross is actually a Catholic symbol of humility so it has a healthy dose of research failure.
Its comes from the legend that Saint Peter asked to be crucified upside down because he didn’t feel worthy to die the same way as Christ.
Which makes how widely accepted the symbol was as a means to portray oneself as anti-Christian or as something affiliated with the occult hilariously ironic.
I want to make a character that looks like an edgy Goth but turns out to be Christian and explains they know what it means.
They explain they wear it because they can relate to feeling unworthy of someone’s love and feeling meaningless.
Thus it reminds them someone loves them no matter how unworthy of it they feel.
